Hinkley Point C - Structural & Pressure Equipment Fabrications
Contracted as a Tier 2 supplier to a principal Tier 1 for the Main Civil Works (MCW) contract at Hinkley Point C since 2019, we are engaged in multiple packages to supply fabricated and welded structural and pressure components in austenitic and duplex stainless as well as carbon steel which we also coat.
Variously required for the Nuclear Island as well as site-wide, the work falls under more than one grade of quality of which the highest is Quality Grade 1 and that includes control of activities that are defined as QRA’s in that the work forms part of the construction of Safety Classified Structures which can impact Nuclear Safety.
Components for these packages have so far ranged in size from small (under 1 meter in length), up to approx. 6.5 Tonnes - 2.5m x 3.5m x 1.5m.
In addition to the fabrication of products, our nuclear engineering team 0liaises with the principal Tier 1 by supplying technical and subject matter expertise in helping to develop future work packages by writing technical briefs and raising technical queries as well as taking part in convergence meetings with the site licensee.
