Site Heat – treatment Services Limited (SHS) is a well-established and knowledgeable company who offer a specialist service in thermal engineering. We have over 40 years of experience and are actively engaged in the business of the heat treatment industry for both electrical and gas. Our company specialises in on-site in-situ work as well as furnace heat treatment.

SHS is structured so that it can, and does, respond quickly and competently to the demands of our clients whether for large or small heat treatment projects. Such projects may be associated with new construction work or as part of a maintenance shutdown on oil refineries, petrochemical plants, and power plants – fossil fuel fired or nuclear. SHS also provides services to fabrication, construction and engineering companies either at their work base or on site. SHS also has the capability to provide heat treatment services for offshore projects. SHS also provides a specialised and unique service for the hydrogen bake-out heat treatment combined with the measurement of hydrogen flux levels before, during and after a hydrogen bake-out operation prior to welding.

SHS offer services in preheating, post weld heat treatment, stress relieving, refractory dry out, curing, annealing, normalising, expansion, shrinking and hydrogen bake out, high voltage, low voltage, electrical and gas.

Having undertaken projects throughout the United Kingdom and overseas the heat treatment technicians engaged by SHS are qualified and experienced to work alone or as a team member on projects in the following sectors : Power Station, Oil Refineries, Petro Chemical Plants, Power Plants, Nuclear Plants, Gas, LNG Terminals, On Shore Off Shore, Power Generation, Mechanical Engineering Workshops and Companies, Ministry Of Defence.

Also to supplement our on-site in-situ operations a heat treatment furnace division has been established at our head office premises in Port Talbot where we have three different sized furnaces. We also offer our clients the opportunity to hire heat treatment equipment for weld preheating or post weld heat treatment.

A heat treatment furnace division has been established at our head office workshop in Port Talbot. Three furnaces have been established that have been designed for batch heat treatments at temperatures up to 850°C (plus a specialised one which allows temperatures of up to 1050oC) They are utilised on a regular basis for stress relieving, annealing, and normalising of loads. Furnace treatment provides an economic option where an in-situ approach can be avoided.

Medium Furnace : 38 x 38 x 54 Inches / 965 x 965 x 1371 mm
Small Furnace : 25 x 24 x 28 Inches / 635 x 609 x 711 mm

Site Facilities

Shop Floor

Size not specified. Our head office workshop is the location of where SHS store all our heat treatment equipment safely and securely. It is here we have an instrument room, a temperature controlled room, a quarantine area, a large work area for repairs, testing and calibration. Our workshop has two in-house heat treatment instrument technicians who maintain all the heat treatment equipment. Our head office workshop also has three heat treatment furnaces fully equipped to carry in-house projects.
